90 million youngsters don’t cast vote in elections but unfortunately, they are encouraging each other with great enthusiasm to vote for a contestant for a reality show. Now to them the reality show winner holds a comparatively more important place than their political leader and this is unfortunate for the society and our nation.

In my opinion the first and foremost reason behind such actions of our youngsters is lack of positive education. As Swami Vivekananda ji mentioned in his book ‘Awakening India’ that It is important for the nation to hold on the spiritual and secular education. The kind of education we get is not man-making education. He said that result of this education is that it has not produced one original man in span of 50 years in the three presidencies. And these actions are classical example of why he was right.

Secondly, I think social media has made us this vulnerable, individuals are getting more aggressive, their attention span is very low, they are feeding enormous information through reels, social media posts and YouTube shots which is draining the energy and power of their subconscious mind and I think this is the cause of poor decision making. And after social media you can also blame such reality shows.

To fix such attitude and lack of awareness we must try to build an environment of reading not only NCERT textbooks but also spiritual books, we need to promote a culture of healthy and positive discussions, intellectual conversations among the youngsters. If we are educated and wise, we can use social media in a progressive way and not become a product of it. So, the baseline is imbedding the spiritual knowledge from the very beginning. Enrich your knowledge through books and not Instagram reels. Seek knowledge, seek truth, and abide by it as the great king Bhartrihari said ” let the sages blame or them praise; let the goddess of fortune come or let her go wherever she likes; let death come today, or let it come in hundreds of years; he indeed is the steady man who does not move one inch from the way of truth.” Happy International Youth Day.
